Northern Levies - Complete

Been busy painting these guys over the last month - will do the bases in the next week and get some better photos plus a write up of the unit and the rationale behind the flags.

Not the best photos - flash or no flash that is the question....

Excellent brushwork Roy.

I guess you have a little more time to get some painting done at the mo'? If so, go for it mon ami!

Lovely! Great irregular civvy-street look to these lads. Great flags as always.

Lovely figures. Just one comment though - like many others you seem to have them all in uniform blue bunnets. These wouldn't have all been bought in the same shop! In fact they were probably homemade so there would have been considerable variety of shade of blue - and probably quite a few browns etc as well.

If you look close you'll see that the bunnets are actually painted from two different triads - so in effect there are actually 6 separate blues in play here - I never went with a lot of the "brighter" blues as they look too rich and not as homespun.

Don't know about the extra time Darrell - took two months to get these done :-) Mind you thats me over 50% of the army done now - three battalions and a unit of cav' left to go......

all the best

As a former wargamer I'm impressed...but as a fellow blogger and geologist I am ashamed and apologize for not giving you credit where credit was due back in May of last year. I've corrected the post and made sure I credited your blog with the images I stole.

And as an expatriot Scot, it's good the see the Lads looking so fierce. My MacMillan great-great-etc-gaffer would have been cheering the levies, hopefully (for his descendents' sake) safely from the touchline.
